Guyanese soldiers are set to receive $1.6 billion in bonuses this year as part of the annual one-month bonus reinstated by the PPP government.
The announcement was made by President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Dr. Irfaan Ali, during the annual Christmas Lunch at Base Camp Seweyo.
The bonus, which had been discontinued under the previous administration, will benefit approximately 12,000 servicemen and women.
The President acknowledged the sacrifices made by members of the armed forces, commending their patriotism and service to the nation.
He urged soldiers to continue setting exemplary standards while serving their country.
In addition to the one-month bonus, soldiers will also benefit from a 10% retroactive salary increase, salary adjustments, and a $100,000 cash grant.
This financial boost is part of the government’s broader efforts to support the welfare of Guyana’s armed forces.
