Guyanese Share Christmas Plans and Messages as Festive Spirit Grows

As Christmas approaches, citizens in Guyana are immersed in the holiday spirit, spreading joy and making preparations for the much-anticipated eve of the year. NCN’s Fabiana Mcklmon and cameraman Kweson Meusa captured the sentiments of Guyanese, who took a moment from their Christmas activities to share their plans and messages.

Amidst Christmas shopping, family gatherings, and gift shopping, Guyanese are celebrating the days leading up to the holidays with a sense of harmony, joy, and peace.

John Rolstonyounge, a business owner, emphasized the spirit of the season, stating, “Peace and love and everybody coming together, remembering what this holiday is about, passing it on to the less fortunate. That is what we’re doing here today—forget about the bigger ones and let’s take care of each other.”

Sherely, a Christmas shopper, expressed her happiness, saying, “I feel happy because of the business and the shopping. I’m enjoying it to come out and have a good time.”

Sean Barrow, another Christmas shopper, reflected on the challenges of previous years with the impact of the coronavirus.

Despite disagreements with Venezuela, he noted, “Christmas is much better. It seems that we found a middle ground for now, so people can enjoy Christmas instead of thinking about the future.”

Brna Jose, echoing the sentiment of spreading love during this time, extended a message to relatives and the nation at large.

“This is the time where we all should be together, and to Guyana as a whole, we must all live as one. Peace and unity in our loving country, and this country belongs to each and one of us,” she shared.
