Iasi Thorne, a 19-year-old Guyanese fast bowler, expressed his readiness for the upcoming ICC Men’s Under-19 Cricket World Cup scheduled to take place in South Africa.

Thorne is part of the West Indies Under-19 squad for the tournament and remains optimistic about the team’s performance.

Thorne mentioned that the preparation for the tournament has been excellent, with the team building momentum since the tour in Sri Lanka.

Although initially preparing for Sri Lanka, the switch to South Africa didn’t hinder their readiness.

Thorne highlighted the valuable experience of players like Johnson, who have been to South Africa before.

The team has had productive practice sessions and a successful warm-up game, assessing the conditions well and performing effectively in both batting and bowling.

Expressing confidence in the West Indies team, Thorne emphasized the collective effort and hard work put in by the players.

He sees a great chance for the team to win, emphasizing the importance of going through the processes and executing their plans.

When asked about his main goals for the tournament, Thorne stated that he aims to deliver outstanding performances for his team, contribute to game-winning moments, and finish the tournament with the most wickets while bowling the fastest ball.

The ICC Men’s Under-19 Cricket World Cup is set to run from January 19 to February 11, featuring sixteen teams competing for the prestigious title.
