More than 40 athletes from Guyana are set to compete in the Central America and Caribbean Bodybuilding Championship, which will be held from October 17-20 at the National Cultural Center.
This highly anticipated event is expected to showcase around 250 athletes from various countries, with 14 professional cards available for top performers.
Among the seasoned competitors is Emerson Campbell, a CAC medalist, who is eager to secure a pro-card in what will be his seventh competition.
Campbell expressed that winning this championship on home soil would be a significant achievement to conclude his amateur career.
Keavon Bess, the President of the Guyana Bodybuilding and Fitness Federation, emphasized the importance of this championship, describing it as a crucial opportunity for athletes.
He noted that those who succeed not only gain prestige but also have the chance to earn substantial financial rewards.
In last year’s 50th edition of the competition, held in Aruba, Guyanese athletes excelled, bringing home four gold medals, two silver medals, and one bronze.
This year’s championship will welcome competitors from a variety of countries, including Barbados, Bahamas, Mexico, Trinidad and Tobago, Suriname, and Antigua and Barbuda.
Notably, this will be the first time athletes from Haiti and St. Vincent and the Grenadines participate in the event.
As the competition draws near, both athletes and supporters are excited for the upcoming displays of talent and dedication in the sport of bodybuilding.
