Guyana was well represented at the Future Investment Summit in Saudi Arabia, where President Dr. Irfaan Ali spoke of how Guyana is able to balance economic transformation with environmental sustainability.
According to the Head of State in his address to global leaders and investors on Tuesday, Guyana’s forests store over 19 gigatons of carbon, and boasts one of the highest biodiversity densities globally.
President Ali pointed out that this is even as Guyana currently produces oil, with proven oil reserves of 11 billion barrels.
The Head of State also highlighted Guyana’s investments in human capital, healthcare, technology, and energy.
He noted that Guyana is leapfrogging into a future where digitization and artificial intelligence will play a critical role.
