Guyana’s global standing continues to grow with increased influence in regional and international decision-making. Minister of Finance Dr. Ashni Singh says the information is the result of decades of disciplined policy and strategic leadership.
Speaking on the Starting Point Program, the Finance Minister explained that Guyana’s relationship with international institutions like the International Monetary Fund and World Bank has significantly evolved.
“So you are absolutely correct that Guyana now occupies a place of considerably more influence and considerably more respect globally, hemispherically and regionally on almost all subject matters,” he said.
The Finance Minister emphasised that Guyana’s current economic strength and international standing are not accidental, but the result of decades of reaffirmed investment and sound policy decisions. He noted that the country is now among the fastest growing economies in the world, with its performance drawing global attention and reshaping how small states are perceived.
“We are today in a place where Guyana is and has been the fastest growing economy in the world, has been growing, has been outperforming, not only outperforming all comparators, but has been dominating global economic growth performance and global economic growth projection,” he explained.
Dr. Singh says Guyana’s transformation continues to open new opportunities for investment and global partnerships.
