Guyana’s All-Female Robotics Team Shines at Global Competition in Singapore

Guyana’s All-Female Robotics team has achieved remarkable success at the Global Competition in Singapore, earning praise from the Head of State, Dr. Irfaan Ali.

Out of 191 countries, Team Guyana Robotics secured an impressive 23rd place, advancing to the playoff matches where they joined forces with Team Venezuela, Team Latvia, and Team Chad.

They concluded the playoff matches in the 5th position.

President Irfaan Ali expressed his congratulations on their outstanding performance via his Facebook page.

Coach Arrianna Mahase, speaking on the team’s achievement, mentioned how the girls’ exceptional performance was a source of pride.

She emphasized the supportive environment that enabled them to thrive and contribute meaningfully to the field of robotics.

Mahase, who has been a participant in the competition for over seven years, highlighted the transition from being a student participant to taking on the role of coach in the First Global Challenge.

Guyana first participated in the competition in 2017.

Reflecting on her journey, Mahase shared that her initial exposure to the competition opened her eyes to the world of innovation and robotics.

She emphasized the importance of conflict resolution, effective communication across diverse nations, and the enhancement of soft skills through this experience.

The 5-member team competed against 190 other countries over the course of three days.

The team included co-captains Ariel ATylor and T’Sehai Holder, strategist Xaria Holder, and drivers Lateisha MacArthur and Italy TonChung.

The team was accompanied by Coach Arrianna Mahase and three mentors: Joshua Reece, Tarico Henry, and Shamar Stewart.
