Guyana Women’s Cricket Team Triumphs Over Windward Islands in CWI CG Super50 Tournament

In a thrilling encounter at Warner Park, St. Kitts, the Guyana women’s cricket team secured a resounding victory against the Windward Islands women’s team in the Cricket West Indies CG Super50 tournament.

The Guyanese team showcased their dominance by remaining unbeaten after two rounds of matches.

Batting first, they posted a competitive total of 207 runs, with notable contributions from Shabika Gajnabi (61), Captain Shemaine Campbelle (42), and all-rounder Aahmini Munisar (29).

The Windward Islands women faced a challenging task chasing the target but could only manage 163 runs before being bowled out in 40.2 overs.

Plaffiana Millington displayed exceptional bowling prowess, claiming two crucial wickets, while Munisar and Niya Latchman supported with two wickets each.

Despite commendable efforts from Nerissa Crafton (47) and Zaida James (21), the Windward Islands women fell short of their target.

In other matches of the CG Super50 tournament, Jamaica women secured a convincing nine-wicket victory over Leeward Islands women, while defending champions Barbados emerged victorious against Trinidad and Tobago by eight runs.

With this impressive win, the Guyana women’s cricket team continues to showcase their prowess in the tournament, setting the stage for exciting encounters ahead.
