Guyana’s U20 Athletics team is gearing up to compete in the 20th World Junior Championships, scheduled to take place from August 27 to August 31 in Lima, Peru.
Head coach Julian Edmonds expressed optimism about the team’s chances, noting that several athletes are expected to make it to the finals in their respective events, with the possibility of contending for medals.
Edmonds highlighted the strong performances of the team in previous competitions, stating that personal bests and advancing to the finals are key objectives.
The mixed 4×400 relay team is also seen as a strong contender.
The team includes standout athletes Athaleyah Hinckson, Tianna Springer, Narissa McPherson, and Nalicia Glen on the women’s side, while the men’s squad features Kaidon Persaud, Malachi Austin, Dh Neilson Gill, Enoch Munroe, Jackson Clarke, and Ezekiel Newton.
They will be supported by team manager Sheryl Hermonstine and physiotherapist Aretha Legall.
