In the Cricket West Indies Rising Stars U-15 tournament, the Guyana team concluded their campaign with a strong performance, although they had to settle for second place.

Guyana’s U15 team wrapped up their participation in the Cricket West Indies Rising Stars tournament with a resounding victory over the Leeward Islands, winning by a margin of 147 runs.

Despite their impressive performance, the Guyanese boys finished in second place overall. They accumulated 18 match points, the same as Barbados.

However, Barbados clinched the title by virtue of having more bowling points.

This year marks the third consecutive year that the tournament title has eluded the Guyanese team, a fact lamented by Head Coach Latchman Yadram, who expressed his disappointment.

Yadram, however, commended the players for their efforts and adherence to the game plan, highlighting their talent and the positive direction of Guyanese cricket.

Looking ahead, Yadram expressed hope that several players from the Guyana U15 team would be selected for the West Indies U16 team, citing the outstanding performances of four players who earned the Man of the Match award in each of the four games played.

Despite the second-place finish, the Guyana U15 team’s performance reflects their potential and sets a strong foundation for future success in regional and international cricket competitions.
