The Guyana Tourism Authority (GTA) has announced a new initiative aimed at promoting Destination Guyana through travel writing.

This program is designed to enhance the skills of media operatives and tourism stakeholders in crafting compelling travel narratives that highlight the country’s attractions.

Director of the GTA, Kamrul Baksh, explained that the initiative is part of a broader strategy to boost tourism by leveraging the power of written content.

The training will be conducted over the next two months, featuring a curriculum developed by the GTA and led by an expert travel writer.

The majority of the training will be conducted online, totaling no less than 20 hours.

Participants will engage in various writing exercises, culminating in the creation of travel articles based on the content developed during the course.

These articles are intended to engage both local citizens and international tourists, showcasing the diverse and vibrant experiences Guyana has to offer.

Baksh emphasized that this initiative is crucial for promoting Destination Guyana, aiming to generate interest and awareness through engaging and well-crafted travel stories.

The program will combine online sessions with in-person training to ensure comprehensive skill development for participants.

This new training program underscores the GTA’s commitment to enhancing tourism promotion efforts and supporting the development of high-quality travel content that can attract more visitors to Guyana.
