The Guyana Tourism Authority (GTA) is prioritizing service improvement in the tourism sector through comprehensive training initiatives, including First Aid and CPR training.
The recent completion of this First Aid and CPR training in Region Six, where thirty individuals have successfully completed the program, marks the second round of training with over fifty individuals having already benefited from similar initiatives.
Participants underwent rigorous training sessions and examinations, receiving certifications upon successful completion.
Chetnauth Persaud, Senior Training and Tourism Development Officer at the Guyana Tourism Authority, highlighted the importance of these training programs, particularly in response to the increasing tourism activities in the region.
With the growing number of hotels, tourists, and tourism-related businesses, there is a heightened need for individuals equipped with First Aid and CPR skills.
Persaud emphasized the GTA’s commitment to further expand these training initiatives, aiming to train an additional fifty to seventy-five individuals in First Aid and CPR in Region Six within the year.
Already, several participants have begun leveraging their newly acquired skills, with some joining tour companies and actively engaging in tourism activities.
Looking ahead, the GTA plans to extend similar training opportunities to the people of Berbice, ensuring broader access to essential skills and knowledge within the tourism sector.
