Guyana’s ports of entry will soon undergo a major security and efficiency upgrade with the installation of world-class scanners and the introduction of fully digitized services.

President Dr. Irfaan Ali announced that these advancements, set to be implemented by the end of the year, aim to enhance border security, streamline customs processing, and eliminate human biases in government services.

In collaboration with the United States, the government will deploy state-of-the-art scanners at all port facilities.

Upon arrival, all baggage will be scanned, and travelers will be required to complete immigration and customs forms digitally, significantly reducing manual processing times.

Strict penalties will be enforced for false electronic declarations to ensure compliance and security.

The President emphasized that these measures are essential for national security, improving investor confidence, and fostering greater engagement with the Guyanese diaspora.

By transitioning to a modernized system, the government seeks to enhance transparency and accountability while driving economic growth.

With these digital upgrades, Guyana is positioning itself as a more secure and efficient destination for travelers, businesses, and investors.
