The Guyana Table Tennis Association (GTTA) is closing its 2024 season with the highly anticipated Christmas Table Tennis Tournament, scheduled for December 21-22 at the National Gymnasium.

The tournament will feature over 40 players competing in three categories: Novice Open, C Class Open for Under-13 and Under-15 players, and B Class Open for National Juniors and Open Singles.

National and long-time Table Tennis Coach Linden Johnson shared that the tournament serves a dual purpose: nurturing young talent and identifying players for future international competitions.

The GTTA has expressed its commitment to revitalizing its tournament calendar, with plans to host regular events starting in 2025.

The pandemic had previously disrupted the competition schedule, but efforts are underway to resume monthly tournaments, including school-level engagements to increase participation.

In addition to the competition, trophies and medals will be awarded to younger players in the C Class category.

The GTTA is also actively seeking sponsorships to provide monetary prizes for senior competitors.
