Guyana Squash Association Gears Up for Caribbean Junior Championship

Ahead of the Caribbean Junior Squash Championship in the British Virgin Islands starting June 30th, the Guyana Squash Association (GSA) is intensifying its preparations.

The association’s competition committee, led by Chairman Deje Dias, has overseen a focused 12-week training regimen aimed at enhancing the team’s fitness and accountability.

The GSA recently participated in the Toucan Skill Level Tournament, boosting confidence among players and officials alike.

Dias expressed optimism about the team’s readiness and commitment compared to previous years.

The squad, managed by Nicholas Verway, comprises 40 players across various age categories from under 11 to under 19.

The GSA emphasizes the inclusive development of both male and female players, acknowledging the challenges faced by the female team as some players move up a category.

The Caribbean Junior Squash Championship serves as a crucial platform for nurturing emerging squash talent from Guyana and the wider Caribbean region.

It provides invaluable competitive experience and an opportunity for young athletes to showcase their skills internationally.

The GSA remains dedicated to supporting its junior players as they prepare to represent Guyana with determination and skill at the upcoming championship.
