Guyana Restaurant Week Launches with Over 20 Options for Food Enthusiasts

Guyana Restaurant Week is set to begin on June 21, featuring over 20 participating restaurants across the country.

The event was launched at Atlantis Restaurant in Leonora, under the theme ‘Explore, Eat, Repeat.’

Dee George, President of the Tourism and Hospitality Association of Guyana (THAG), welcomed Atlantis Restaurant’s participation as the first in Region Three to join Restaurant Week, emphasizing the importance of inclusivity in culinary tourism.

George highlighted the association’s commitment to inclusivity, aiming to expand beyond urban areas to include indigenous communities, enriching the dining experience for all participants.

Kamrul Baksh, Director of the Guyana Tourism Authority (GTA), noted the significance of Atlantis Restaurant’s involvement, marking the first time Region Three has participated in this culinary celebration.

He emphasized the event’s potential to promote regional tourism through gastronomy, encouraging more restaurants to participate in the future.

Bhabita Albert, Proprietor of Atlantis Cuisine, expressed gratitude for the opportunity to elevate culinary standards and showcase the diversity of cuisine in Region Three.

She expressed excitement about collaborating with THAG, GTA, and other restaurants to present a unique dining experience.

The new additions to this year’s lineup include Heliconia Tavern, Starlight Restaurant, D’s Cafe, Ambrosia Restaurant, Bia Bia Tex Mex Restaurant, Ry Rys, and Froggy’s Grill, contributing to the vibrant culinary landscape of Guyana.

With preparations underway, Guyana Restaurant Week promises a remarkable gastronomic experience from June 21 to June 30, showcasing the best of local and international cuisine.
