Andre Ally, Permanent Secretary of the Home Affairs Ministry, addressed the Guyana Prison Service’s Annual Conference at the Police Officer Mess, Eve Leary, emphasizing the urgent need to revamp security protocols within the prison system.
Ally stressed the necessity for a comprehensive overhaul of security protocols in light of recent prison escapes that have raised concerns about the effectiveness of current operational practices.
In his address to senior functionaries of the Guyana Prison Service, Ally acknowledged the efforts made but also criticized the lapses leading to recent prison escapes.
He highlighted the importance of improving operational efficiency and urged prison officers to think innovatively to prevent further incidents.

The two-day conference, held under the theme “Promoting rehabilitation and reintegration of prisoners,” aimed to address key issues within the prison service and explore strategies for enhancing security and rehabilitation efforts.
