The Guyana Police Force’s pool of prosecutors has been significantly enhanced with the graduation of 23 ranks from the School of the Nations prosecutors’ training program.
Among the 23 graduates, 14 completed the rigorous six-month prosecutors’ training program, while nine successfully finished the three-month elementary program.
Addressing the graduates at the ceremony, Chief Executive Officer of Nations Inc., Dr. Dexter Phillips, expressed pride in the institution’s longstanding partnership with the Guyana Police Force.
He emphasized that completion of the prosecutors’ course makes the graduates eligible for acceptance into the University of London LLB course.
Additionally, those who completed the elementary program can progress to the next level of the prosecutors’ course.
Dr. Phillips underscored the crucial role of the graduates as police prosecutors, stating, “You will be responsible for upholding the law and ensuring justice is served. You will be the voice of victims and work tirelessly to bring those who break the law to justice.”
Meanwhile, Director of the Police Academy, Superintendent Sonia Herbert, reminded the ranks of their duty to uphold the law and ensure justice.
She emphasized the importance of seeking truth and ensuring accountability and rights for all individuals encountered in court.
The new graduates were encouraged to foster positive relationships with legal professionals and to prioritize justice at all times.
This graduation marks a significant milestone in enhancing the prosecutorial capabilities of the Guyana Police Force, ensuring that justice is served effectively and efficiently.
