The Guyana Office for Investment (GO-Invest) is actively exploring tourism partnerships with Barbados as it participates in the Barbados AgroFest for the third consecutive year.
As the Barbados AgroFest unfolds from February 23 to 25, GO-Invest is seizing the opportunity to establish strategic alliances with Barbadian counterparts.
Dr. Peter Ramsaroop, Chief Executive Officer of GO-Invest, emphasizes the importance of collaboration between the tourism ministry, Guyana Tourism Authority, and GO-Invest to explore and leverage synergies between the two nations’ tourism industries.
A highlight of the event is the participation of over 40 Guyanese businesses, with 19 newcomers eager to showcase their products and services.
John Edghill, Senior Director for Investment at GO-Invest, reveals that a tailored Agri-Exchange, Tourism-Connect networking engagement has been arranged for participating businesses, scheduled for February 26.
This initiative aims to facilitate meaningful interactions and potential partnerships between Guyanese and Barbadian enterprises.
Edghill elaborates on the dual purpose of the engagement, emphasizing the alignment of agriculture and tourism as key sectors in both countries.
He underscores the importance of fostering interest and securing strong deals between private sector players in Barbados and their Guyanese counterparts.
Reflecting on the success stories of previous years, Dr. Ramsaroop highlights the tangible benefits for businesses participating in such initiatives.
Notably, he mentions Only Coconuts, a company that secured a significant distribution deal following their participation in the AgroFest, positioning their products prominently across the Caribbean market.
The participating Guyanese contingent spans various sectors, including agro-processed goods, fresh produce, jewelry, furniture, and more.
Additionally, tour operators will showcase their niche markets and services, enhancing Guyana’s tourism profile in the region.
As GO-Invest actively pursues partnerships and collaborations at the Barbados AgroFest, it signals a concerted effort to foster economic growth and strengthen bilateral ties between Guyana and Barbados in the areas of agriculture, tourism, and trade.
