Hockey, Trinidad Team

In their opening clash at the Central America and Caribbean Games in El Salvador, Guyana’s men’s senior hockey team had a challenging outing. Teague Marcano opened the scoring for the Twin Island Republic, converting a penalty corner in the 16th minute, followed by Jovan Wren doubling the lead.

Marcano showcased his skills by registering a double, making it 3-0, before Andrew Stewart put Guyana on the scoresheet in the second half with a penalty corner. However, Marcano’s field goal, completing his hat-trick, secured a 4-1 victory.

Head coach Robert Fernandes provided NCN Sport with insights into the team’s performance in their opening clash. Coach Fernandes acknowledged that the Trinidadian team executed their game plan better than the local team.

Looking ahead, Guyana’s hockey teams will return to the field on Friday to face the Dominican Republic. Led by Robert France, the Guyana team includes Shakeem Fausette, Shaquon Favorite, Kareem McKenzie, Me’Shach Sargeant, and Andrew Stewart. The team is complemented by Coach John Abrahams and fitness trainer Theodore Henry.
