Guyana Men’s Hockey Team Clinches Silver in Over 45 Indoor Hockey World Cup

In a hard-fought final at the Over 45 Indoor Hockey World Cup in Nottingham, Guyana’s men’s team narrowly missed out on capturing gold, ultimately settling for the silver medal after a tough battle against England.

Having performed impressively throughout the tournament with an unbeaten record, Guyana entered the final with confidence, especially after defeating England 7-4 in their group B matchup.

The match started with both teams testing each other, but it was Guyana who opened the scoring in the 8th minute with a goal from Devin Hooper.

However, England quickly responded, netting two goals in the second quarter, both scored by Andy Langlands in the 14th and 19th minutes, to take the lead.

Despite numerous opportunities in the third quarter, neither side could capitalize, maintaining the scoreline at 2-1 in favor of England.

In the final period, Guyana mounted a comeback, regaining the lead with three goals from Dwayne Scott in the 31st, 35th, and 36th minutes, giving them a 4-2 advantage.

But England showcased resilience in the closing minutes, scoring three goals to snatch victory with a final score of 5-4.

Although the loss ended Guyana’s unbeaten run in the tournament, they showcased exceptional talent and determination, earning them the silver medal.

The Guyana men’s hockey team’s performance exemplifies their skill and commitment on the international stage, bringing pride to the nation.
