The Guyana Literature Prize Festival, organized by the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports, has commenced, offering a vibrant platform for Guyanese and regional literary talent.

This festival, which began on Thursday, aims to promote the nation’s literary heritage while connecting aspiring writers and literary enthusiasts.

Running from February 29 to March 4, the Guyana Literature Prize Festival features a diverse range of activities for literature lovers.

These include an exhibition, interactive storytelling sessions, youth workshops, puppet theater for children, and more.

Ruel Johnson, a member of the organizing team, highlighted the festival’s goal of connecting individuals of different ages and backgrounds who share a fascination with literature.

He emphasized the festival’s focus on showcasing literature produced by Guyanese residents and those in the diaspora, primarily centered around life in Guyana.

Johnson invited the public to enjoy the festival until Monday, March 4, free of charge.

Additionally, he outlined the packed program for the upcoming days, which includes a Masterclass workshop, interviews with emerging writers, and a play to be staged at the National Cultural Center on Sunday and Monday.

Notably, admission to the play will cost $1,500. Citizens are encouraged to participate in the 2024 Guyana Literature Prize Festival, which promises to be a celebration of literature and culture.
