A recently completed building to house the Guyana Lands and Survey Commission (GL&SC) in Black Bush Polder, Region Six, has been officially commissioned.
The project was initiated in January and completed in August of the current year, funded by the Guyana Red Plus Fund.
The new GL&SC office is designed to cater to the specific needs of the region, equipped with modern facilities for land administration, surveying, and information and communication technology (ICT) resources.
This development is seen as a significant upgrade from the previous structure and is expected to provide improved services to the people of Black Bush Polder.
Regional Chairman David Armogan expressed optimism about the positive impact of the new facility, particularly in addressing longstanding land issues in the predominantly agricultural community.
He emphasized the importance of the computerized system, which allows for a streamlined process, ensuring greater transparency and efficiency in land-related matters.
Enrique Monize, the Chief Executive Officer of the Guyana Land Survey Commission, highlighted that his focus has been on upgrading facilities across the country to meet the expectations of the Guyanese people.
Besides Black Bush Polder, Monize mentioned ongoing upgrades in Mabaruma, Bartica, and Port Kaituma, emphasizing that these facilities will also feature officers’ quarters.
The inauguration of the new GL&SC office in Black Bush Polder is part of a broader effort to modernize land administration and surveying services across various regions in Guyana.
