Guyana Islamic Trust Gears Up for Islam Awareness Week 2024

The Guyana Islamic Trust is set to observe Islam Awareness Week from February 2 to 11, 2024, with a series of activities aimed at promoting understanding and tolerance across religious lines.

The week-long event, which has been an annual tradition since 1995, will kick off with a launch at the MYO Complex on Woolford Avenue, Thomas Lands, Georgetown, on Friday, February 2.

Islam Awareness Week serves as an opportunity for the Guyana Islamic Trust to share a friendly and inclusive message about Islam, reaching out to people irrespective of their religious affiliations.

Shaikh Abdool Aleem Rahim, the President of the Guyana Islamic Trust, emphasized the goal of spreading a clear understanding of what Islam represents.

The underlying idea is to create awareness and foster tolerance in society by helping people understand the message of Islam and promoting mutual understanding.

President Rahim outlined various activities planned for the week, with different districts covering regions across the country participating.

These activities include Islamic awareness programs, educational presentations in institutions, public lectures, house-to-house engagements, and more.

The theme for this year’s Islam Awareness Week is “Justice, Dignity, and Equality for Everyone.”

The events throughout the week will feature presentations from Muslim leaders from both the region and beyond, contributing to a broader understanding of Islam and its principles.

The Guyana Islamic Trust aims to make Islam Awareness Week a platform for dialogue, education, and community engagement, fostering an environment of justice, dignity, and equality for all.
