Georgetown, Guyana — Guyana held the second annual Regional Investment and Capital Markets Conference, a two-day event focused on advancing economic development and attracting investment opportunities.

The conference, which began Tuesday at the Pegasus Suites, was organized by the Jamaica Stock Exchange in partnership with the Georgetown Chamber of Commerce and Industry and other regional stakeholders.

Senior Minister within the Office of the President with Responsibility for Finance, Dr. Ashni Singh, addressed the gathering, emphasizing Guyana’s substantial economic progress even prior to the emergence of its oil industry.

He noted that Guyana had significantly lowered its debt-to-GDP ratio well before the discovery of oil, establishing a solid economic foundation that positioned the nation as a promising destination for investors.

Minister Singh encouraged attendees to recognize Guyana’s investment potential beyond its oil reserves, emphasizing the government’s commitment to economic diversification.

He described Guyana as a stable and mature environment for business, with a vision of sustained growth that is both ambitious and prudent.

This year’s conference theme, “Financing for Success: Where Passion, Prosperity, and People Align,” highlighted the goal of fostering strategic partnerships and strengthening the region’s investment sector.

As one of the fastest-growing economies globally, Guyana aims to attract diverse investment that contributes to a balanced and robust economic future.
