The Guyana Harpy Eagles delivered a commanding performance in their Regional Super50 matchup against Barbados Pride, securing a convincing 56-run victory at the Sir Frank Worrell Memorial ground.
Facing a challenging situation early in the match, Guyana found themselves at five wickets down for 68 runs after 22 overs.
However, a resilient 54-run partnership between Kemol Savory and Sherfane Rutherford provided a much-needed resurgence for the Guyanese side.
Although Savory departed in the 34th over with the score at 122 for six, Rutherford continued to exhibit exceptional form, ultimately guiding the team to a total of 202 before his dismissal in the 43rd over.
Rutherford’s impressive knock of 74, complemented by Savory’s contribution of 35, proved pivotal for the Harpy Eagles.
Defending their total, Guyana’s spin bowlers exhibited exceptional prowess on the pitch, dismantling the Barbados batting lineup and restricting them to a mere 146 runs within 40 overs.
Gudakesh Motie’s outstanding figures of 5/17 and Kevin Sinclair’s commendable 3/30 combined to capture eight wickets, sealing the resounding victory for Guyana.
The Guyana Harpy Eagles’ stellar performance in both batting and bowling departments highlights their competitive edge in the Regional Super50 tournament.
