Guyana Fire Service Educates Public on Fire Safety and Prevention

The Guyana Fire Service (GFS) welcomed members of the public to their headquarters on Homestretch Avenue, encouraging them to learn about fire safety and prevention.

This initiative was part of the GFS’ Fire Awareness Month activities, aimed at raising awareness and educating visitors about tools and equipment to prevent fires.

Sheldon Sauns, Fire Prevention Officer at the GFS, emphasized the importance of regularly sensitizing the public about fire safety and prevention measures.

The Open Day Forum featured activities focused on demonstrating how to use fire extinguishers and smoke detectors.

Visitors received information about the significance of having these essential safety equipment in their homes and workplaces.

Throughout the month, the GFS has planned various activities including job fairs, fun fairs for children, and inspections of schools, private, and public offices.

Fire Prevention Month is being observed under the theme ‘For the future of our Nation, Practice Fire Safety and Prevention’.
