The Guyana female wind-ball cricket team is gearing up to represent their country at the annual West Indies wind-ball Caribbean Championship in Barbados.

Scheduled to depart on Wednesday, the team is eager to showcase their skills and compete against other teams from around the Caribbean in this prestigious event.

Preparations for the tournament began late last year, with head Coach Andrew Allen expressing satisfaction with the team’s progress.

However, financial constraints have posed a challenge, with efforts underway to secure additional funding to ensure the full team can participate.

Allen emphasized the importance of the wind-ball tournament as the grassroots level of cricket in Guyana, highlighting the success stories of senior players like Shemaine Campbell, Tremaine Smart, and Steven Jacobs, who all started their cricket journey in similar wind-ball competitions.

The tournament format will consist of four 15-over matches followed by the knockout stage, with the Guyanese team aiming to clinch the championship title.

With their sights set on victory, the Guyana female wind-ball team is ready to take on the challenge and make their country proud on the regional stage.
