The Guyana Energy Conference and Supply Chain Expo has launched its first-ever Conference Village at the Kingston Esplanade, providing a platform to highlight the country’s expanding agricultural sector.
The five-day event, held in partnership with the Ministry of Agriculture, aims to showcase Guyana’s agro-processing industry and investment potential ahead of the main conference.
Although the conference primarily focuses on oil and gas, agriculture remains a key part of Guyana’s economic development.
The Ministry of Agriculture has reported significant advancements in agro-processing, with over 4,000 products now available in the market.
The Conference Village is expected to provide local farmers and agro-processors with an opportunity to present their products to potential investors attending the event.
In recent years, the agriculture sector has experienced steady growth, particularly in corn and soybean production.
These developments align with the regional goal set by CARICOM’s ‘25 by 2025’ initiative, which seeks to reduce food imports by 25% within the Caribbean by the year 2025.
The Guyana Energy Conference and Supply Chain Expo organizers have positioned the Conference Village as an essential feature of the overall event, emphasizing the role of agriculture in the country’s economic diversification strategy.
The expo continues to serve as a hub for international and regional stakeholders across multiple industries, fostering collaboration and investment opportunities.
The Conference Village will remain open to the public and conference attendees throughout the week.
The main four-day conference is set to take place at the Marriott Hotel from February 18 to 21, bringing together industry leaders to discuss developments in energy, supply chains, and related sectors.
