In a resolute display of dominance, the Guyana Defense Force (GDF) volleyball team secured a commanding 3-0 victory over the Classic Ball Blasters in the Demerara Volleyball Association Clubs League.
The GDF team asserted their superiority with a straight sets win, demonstrating their prowess with scores of 25-16, 25-22, and 25-23.
This victory marks their fourth win in five outings this season, reaffirming their position as a formidable force in the league.
Leading the charge for the GDF were standout performers Steffon Norah, Alex Fung-Fook, and Omari Joseph, who contributed significantly with 8, 7, and 7 points respectively.
Their cohesive efforts, coupled with 23 successful attacks and 8 aces, paved the way for their decisive triumph.
Despite a valiant effort from Classic Ball Blasters’ player Dua Grant, who amassed 8 points, the team fell short in their bid to challenge the GDF’s dominance on the court.
With this latest win, the GDF maintains its position at the top of the league standings with 14 points, closely followed by Alphas with 11 points and Castrol Strikers in third place.
Omari Joseph of the GDF leads the individual players’ standings with an impressive tally of 59 points, ahead of Alphas’ Geno Caroll.
In another matchup, Alphas showcased their strength with a straight set victory over the Venezuela-Guyana combined unit.
Geno Caroll’s stellar performance, contributing 19 points with a remarkable 71% efficiency in attack, propelled his team to success.
Although the Venezuela-Guyana combined unit, led by Gustavo Granados and Luis Nunez with 11 and 6 points respectively, displayed resilience, they were unable to overcome Alphas’ dominance, succumbing to defeat in a closely contested encounter.
As the competition unfolds, the GDF and Alphas emerge as frontrunners, setting the stage for an exciting battle for supremacy in the Demerara Volleyball Association Clubs League.
