The Guyana Cycling Federation (GCF) has announced its seven-member team for the upcoming Caribbean Elite Cycling Championships, set to take place in Georgetown from November 9-10.
GCF Vice President Linden Dowridge expressed confidence in the team’s potential, highlighting that the selection was based on individual cyclists’ abilities to perform under diverse conditions.
Dowridge emphasized the advantage of competing on home soil, noting that while the athletes from other countries are among the best, Guyana’s cyclists will benefit from familiar terrain, which boosts expectations for strong performances.
The team includes seasoned competitors such as Briton John, Curtis Dey, Christopher Griffith, Kwame Ridley, Jamual John, Segun Hubbard, and emerging talent Aaron Newton.
Briton John, in particular, is expected to lead the charge after his impressive showing at the Tour de Guiana championships.
Jamual John, representing the Kaieteur Attack Racing Cycle Club, adds valuable experience, while Newton has caught attention with his standout performance at the Farmsup 50-mile road race.
Cyclists from across the Caribbean will compete in time trial and road race events, setting the stage for fierce competition and sportsmanship.
The GCF is optimistic about the team’s chances, looking forward to what they hope will be a strong showing in front of their home crowd.
