Clive Grimmond, the senior women’s coach for the Guyana Cricket Board, has expressed satisfaction with the performances of women cricketers in the Inter-County tournament.

Grimmond also highlighted the positive strides made by the players and the promising future of women’s cricket in Guyana.

Functioning as both the head coach of Guyana’s national women’s team and the Demerara Inter-County side, Grimmond emphasized the improvement in batting performances compared to previous tournaments.

He praised the players for starting the current tournament on a high note and expressed his desire to see them continue to achieve bigger scores, including more 50s and 100s.

Grimmond attributed the success to the training program that has been running for a year, noting the consistency and dedication of the female coaching program across Guyana, including in Demerara, Berbice, and Essequibo.

He particularly commended assistant coach Truman Smart for his contribution to the development of players in Berbice.

With continuous training programs and favorable weather conditions, Grimmond remains optimistic that the systems put in place will yield positive results in the future, further enhancing the standard of women’s cricket in Guyana.

In related news, the Guyana Cricket Board has announced the commencement of a senior women’s T20 tournament scheduled to begin on February 15, providing further opportunities for female cricketers to showcase their talent and compete at a higher level.
