Guyana Cricket Board Names Senior Women’s Squad for Regional Super50

February 13, 2025

The Guyana Cricket Board (GCB) has announced its 14-member squad for the upcoming 2025 Cricket West Indies Regional Women’s Super50 tournament.

The team will be led by experienced captain Shemaine Campbelle, with Ashmini Munisar serving as vice-captain.

The squad comprises a mix of seasoned players and emerging talents, including Mandy Mangru, Realeanna Grimmond, Katana Mentore, Shabika Gajnabi, Cherry-Ann Fraser, Yonette Welcome, Plaffiana Millington, Niya Latchman, Kaysia Schultz, Tricia Hardat, Lauren Williams, and Shenetta Grimmond.

In a statement, the GCB reaffirmed its commitment to the development of women’s cricket in Guyana, following a strong performance in the previous season.

Meanwhile, the final match of the GCB inter-county tournament between Demerara Ladies and Berbice Ladies was abandoned due to adverse weather conditions.

Berbice, batting first after Demerara won the toss and opted to field, posted an imposing total of 283 for 6 in 50 overs.

Katana Mentore led the charge with an impressive 97 off 91 balls, while Realeanna Grimmond contributed 98.

Demerara’s bowling attack was spearheaded by Lashuna Jordan, who took 3 for 44 in her allotted 10 overs.

However, their batting effort was cut short at 18 for 2 in 5.5 overs before the match was called off.

Despite the weather disruption, Mentore’s outstanding knock earned her the Player of the Match award.
