The Guyana Cricket Board (GCB) has unveiled its fifteen-man squad for the upcoming Cricket West Indies regional Under-19 tournament, with Mavindra Dindyal appointed as captain and Jonathan Van-Lange as vice-captain.
Dindyal, recognized as a rising talent in both Guyana and the West Indies under-19 cricket, will lead a robust local unit comprising Rampertab Ramnauth, Sachin Balgobin, Alvin Mohabir, Zachary Jodah, Thaddeus Lovell, Romeo Deonarain, Shahid Viera, Krishna Singh, Riyad Latiff, Golcharran Chulai, Bruce Vincent, and Anthon Lim.
Junior Chairman of Selectors Andre Percival expressed confidence in the squad, highlighting their performances in this year’s inter-county tournament as a crucial factor in their selection.
He emphasized the rigorous selection process, which focused on players’ contributions across batting, bowling, and all-round abilities.
Percival, who will also serve as the team’s coach, acknowledged the tough decisions involved in finalizing the squad and encouraged players to continue honing their skills and maintaining focus.
He stressed the importance of perseverance and improvement, noting that selected players demonstrated the ability to manage the pressures of competitive cricket.
The standby players include Rampersaud Ramnauth, Shiloh Adams, Kumar Deopersaud, Salim Khan, Wavell Allen, and Mahem Khan.
Nazeer Mohamed will manage the team, with Percival assuming the additional role of head coach.
The squad is gearing up for the regional tournament, poised to showcase their talents and compete vigorously under Dindyal’s leadership.
