The completion of these projects is expected in time for the T20 World Cup Tournament.
Additionally, the establishment of the National Cricket Academy and stadiums in Anna Regina and Linden further demonstrates the government’s commitment to sports development.
The removal of duty and value-added tax on sports equipment is seen as a transformative move for the sports sector.
The GSA, headed by David Fernandes, echoes similar sentiments, stating that the allocation reflects a deep understanding of the importance of sports in youth health, socialization, and national pride.
The increased funding is seen as an opportunity to support talent development programs, grassroots initiatives, and elite training opportunities.
The inclusion of duty-free access for sporting equipment is expected to ease access to quality gear for athletes across the country, ultimately enhancing training facilities for various sports in Guyana.
Both sports bodies join a growing list of organizations expressing satisfaction with the budget allocation for sports, anticipating positive impacts on development initiatives and the overall sporting landscape in the country.
