By Royan Abrams

The Guyana Civil Aviation Authority – Air Navigation Services has initiated a two-day Orientation Presentation and Aptitude Testing exercise aimed at filling vacancies for Aeronautical Information Management Officers and Air Traffic Control Assistants.

The Civil Aviation Authority is seeking to expand its workforce for positions at the Cheddi Jagan and Ogle International Airports.

The recruitment drive, which began at the Albion Sports Complex in Region Six, will span two days.

Principal of the Civil Aviation Training School, Clifford Van Doimen, outlined the recruitment process.

Shortlisted candidates will undergo rigorous theoretical training for approximately four months, receiving a stipend during this period.

Successful candidates will then receive competitive remuneration packages and benefits upon placement at one of the airports.

Van Doimen emphasized the government’s decision to extend the recruitment drive to Regions 2 and 7, aiming to recruit individuals from diverse backgrounds.

The training program, scheduled to commence on May 13, 2024, will accommodate candidates from various regions, with accommodation provided for those from hinterland areas.

The training program is intensive, comprising 14 modules tailored to the aviation industry’s safety-critical environment.

Van Doimen highlighted the low failure rate in previous batches, underscoring the program’s effectiveness.

Interested individuals are encouraged to attend the Orientation and Aptitude Testing exercise on April 11 at the Albion Sports Complex, commencing at 9:00 a.m.

This recruitment initiative reflects the Civil Aviation Authority’s commitment to enhancing its workforce and ensuring the safety and efficiency of aviation operations in Guyana.
