As Guyana joins the global community in observing International Men’s Day today, citizens are encouraged to celebrate the positive contributions that men make to society, while also acknowledging the unique challenges they face.

In his message for the occasion, President Dr. Mohamed Irfaan Ali extended his heartfelt greetings to the men of Guyana, emphasizing the importance of recognizing their roles in families, communities, and the nation.

He highlighted the significance of the day in reflecting on the roles men play as fathers, brothers, sons, mentors, and leaders.

President Ali urged men to continue embodying compassion, strength, and humility in their leadership, stressing the importance of promoting positive masculinity and gender equality.

He called for men to serve as role models to the younger generation and to work together to build a society founded on respect, love, and opportunity.

In addition to President Ali’s message, Vice President Dr. Bharrat Jagdeo, also extended his greetings for the day.

He emphasized the need to honor men for their leadership and support, while promoting respect, equality, and compassion across all sectors of society.

Meanwhile, Leeron Brumell, NCN’s Editor-in-Chief, addressed the need for better access to opportunities for men.

He pointed out the growing need for improved support in areas like mental health and overall well-being, similar to the strides made in advocating for women’s rights and access to equal opportunities.

This year, International Men’s Day is being observed under the theme “Men’s Health Champions,” focusing on improving men’s overall well-being and promoting healthy lifestyles.

The observance seeks to encourage greater attention to men’s health challenges and the importance of nurturing both physical and mental health.

International Men’s Day serves as a time for reflection, celebration, and continued advocacy for a more inclusive and compassionate society, with an emphasis on fostering environments where all individuals, regardless of gender, are valued and supported.
