January 23, 2025

The Head Coach of Guyana’s Senior Men’s Basketball Team, Adrian Hooper, is confident in his team’s chances ahead of their Nations Cup challenge in Suriname, starting this Friday.

In preparation for the upcoming tournament, the national team held a practice match that was attended by a small crowd.

Reflecting on the warm-up game, Coach Hooper expressed his satisfaction with the team’s performance.

He noted that they executed both defensive and offensive strategies well, leading to a victorious outcome.

Hooper highlighted the balanced team composition this year, mentioning the inclusion of younger players alongside the seasoned veterans.

He believes this mix will be key to the team’s success in the tournament.

The coach also noted the positive showing in the warm-up game as an encouraging sign for the team’s performance moving forward.

When asked about the team’s objectives, Hooper made it clear that their goal is to win the tournament.

After securing second place last year and third place the year before, the team is determined to claim the top spot this time.

The Guyana team departed early Thursday morning for Suriname, where they will compete at the Van Willgen Sports Complex.

Their first two matches will be against the host nation, Suriname, and Grenada.
