Guyana has officially signed an air services agreement with South Korea, marking a significant development in the country’s air connectivity.

The agreement was formalized this morning during a ceremony held at the Cheddi Jagan International Airport, with Minister of Public Works, Juan Edghill, signing on behalf of Guyana.

The new agreement is set to enhance air connectivity between the two nations, which currently does not have direct flights between them.

It is expected to facilitate more opportunities for private sector engagement in both countries to provide the necessary connectivity for travelers and businesses alike.

Minister Edghill emphasized the potential for expanded engagement between Guyana and the rest of the world.

He pointed out that as Guyana’s international landscape evolves, the agreement would create new opportunities for both countries to connect and collaborate.

This new agreement complements the more than 50 air services agreements Guyana has already established with other International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) member countries.

Guyana and South Korea have maintained diplomatic relations since October 2, 1969.
