The longstanding friendship between Guyana and Qatar serves as a model of global cooperation, with both nations committed to mutual growth and development.

President Dr. Irfaan Ali emphasized this during a reception at the Marriott Hotel on Monday evening to celebrate Qatar’s National Day.

In his remarks, the President highlighted Qatar’s remarkable progress across various sectors, stating that Guyana looks to the Middle Eastern nation’s experience as a guide for its own development path.

“Qatar’s experiences in harnessing its natural resources for the benefit of its people align closely with our own aspirations,” President Ali stated.

He added that Guyana is eager to explore how aspects of Qatar’s approach can be adapted to its own unique circumstances as it builds a prosperous and resilient future.

The head of state reaffirmed the strong ties between the two countries and expressed optimism about deepening their partnership in the coming years.

Chargé d’Affaires of the Embassy of the State of Qatar to Guyana, Mohammed Ibrahim Alrumaihi, reiterated Qatar’s commitment to supporting Guyana’s development.

He noted that their bilateral relationship is built on principles of mutual benefit, peace, and security.

“I renew my commitment to you on this day, which honors the State of Qatar’s dedication to the Republic of Guyana and the international community in achieving mutual benefits and promoting global peace and security,” Alrumaihi stated.

Qatar National Day, observed annually on December 18, marks the unification of the country in 1878.

The event was attended by government officials, diplomats, and members of the business community, reinforcing the strong and growing relationship between the two nations.
