Guyana and Paraguay are poised to explore opportunities for collaboration in the food production sector, as revealed by Paraguay’s Vice Minister of Livestock, Marcelo Gonzalez.
During the 38th FAO Conference, Minister Gonzalez highlighted the significance of representatives from both countries engaging in discussions, indicating that agreements could soon emerge from this event.
He announced Paraguay’s intention to offer scholarships for Guyanese individuals to study at their Veterinary School, with the aim of fostering educational exchanges between the two nations on an annual basis.
Moreover, discussions have already commenced for Paraguay to provide improved genetics for Guyana’s livestock industry, reflecting a commitment to enhancing agricultural practices and productivity.
The Regional Conference, held biennially, serves as a platform for the governments of FAO member states in Latin America and the Caribbean to establish regional priorities for the Organization’s forthcoming biennium.
This collaborative endeavor between Guyana and Paraguay underscores the importance of international cooperation in advancing agricultural development and fostering economic growth in both countries.
