Guyana entered into an Air Services Agreement with the Hellenic Republic (Greece) on Wednesday, September 30, 2026. The agreement was signed at the Arthur Chung Conference Centre on the sidelines of the joint International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) 3rd Global Regional Safety Oversight Organizations (RSOO) and Regional Accidents and Incidents Investigation Organization (RAIO) Forum for Aviation Safety.

Guyana’s Minister of Public Utilities and Aviation, theHonourable Deodat Indar, M.P., and His Excellency Theodore N. Tsakiris, Ambassador of the Hellenic Republic of Greece to Guyana, signed the Agreement. Technical-level negotiations and the initialling of the Agreement were completed on December 3, 2019, in Aqaba, Jordan.

The Agreement encompasses standard provisions pertaining to the Grant of Rights, Designations and Authorisations, Applicability of Laws and Regulations, Commercial Opportunities, Tariffs, Recognition of Certificates and Licences, Aviation Safety and Security, and User Charges, among other relevant areas.

Currently, there are no direct flights between Guyana and Greece. This Agreement facilitates airlines’ access to both markets, promoting competitive air transport services, trade, and economic development for both nations.

Guyana and Greece established diplomatic relations on May 14, 1979, marking the beginning of a longstanding partnership.
