Today, members of the Guyana Amazon Warriors interacted with the National Blind Cricket Team at the Georgetown Cricket Club, Bourda.

This special event was designed to foster the inclusion of individuals living with disabilities.

Cricket fans at the venue enjoyed a meet-and-greet session, followed by an inspiring demonstration of blind cricket.

The initiative was organized by the United Nations System in Guyana in collaboration with the Guyana Blind Cricket Association, CPL-OPCO Guyana INC., and NEW GPC INC.

Its primary aim was to enhance awareness and inclusion of persons with disabilities in sports.

UN Resident Coordinator Jean Kamau emphasized the significance of such interactions, stating that the presence of top sports figures positively influences the players and promotes representation in the sport.

Ganesh Singh, head of the Guyana Blind Association, noted that the organization is committed to advancing sports for individuals with disabilities, marking this event as a key starting point in that mission.

The Amazon Warriors players actively engaged with the blind cricketers, demonstrating their support for disability inclusion.

Their participation both on and off the field highlighted a commitment to raising awareness about the abilities of athletes with disabilities.

As the CPL 2024 season progresses, events like this emphasize the importance of using sports as a platform for positive social change, with the Amazon Warriors playing a pivotal role in this initiative.
