Guyana Amazon Warriors Franchise to Adopt Winner of Future Warriors Tape Ball Cricket Competition

The first-ever eight-over, two-day tape ball under-12 tournament, organized by FL Sport and sponsored by ExxonMobil with a generous contribution of 4 million dollars, is set to take place this weekend at the prestigious Everest cricket ground. Twelve city primary schools will participate, with the winning team receiving a unique honor – adoption by the Guyana Amazon Warriors Franchise.

This means that the victorious primary school team will have the opportunity to interact with and play exhibition matches alongside the Guyana team during the home leg of their 2023 season. Competition Chairman of the Georgetown Cricket Club, Shaun Messiah, praised FL Sport and ExxonMobil for spearheading this inaugural Future Warriors Tape Ball Cricket Tournament.

Messiah, a stalwart in sports administration, emphasized that talent scouts will be on the lookout during this two-day event. He encouraged the young and aspiring players to seize this golden opportunity to showcase their skills, potentially earning recognition from various clubs.

Looking ahead, Messiah pointed out an upcoming under-13 tournament hosted by the GCA, indicating that this competition will serve as an excellent litmus test for the abilities of these emerging players, potentially paving their way into that prestigious event.

The tournament is scheduled for Saturday and Sunday, with matches kicking off at 09:00h at the Everest cricket ground.
