As Guyana undergoes rapid infrastructure expansion, President Irfaan Ali has outlined several major projects aimed at enhancing trade, regional connectivity, and economic diversification.

Speaking on the Energy Perspective Podcast, the President emphasized that the current progress marks only the beginning of a broader transformation plan for the country.

A key initiative is the construction of the Corentyne River Bridge, which is expected to strengthen trade and investment ties between Guyana and Suriname.

To further support growth in Region Six, discussions are underway for a municipal airport in Berbice, similar to the Eugene F. Correia International Airport.

Additionally, plans include establishing a second gas plant in Berbice, a deep-water port, and an aluminium plant to utilize shared reserves with Suriname.

Infrastructure expansion is also underway in Region Five, with projects aimed at modernizing agriculture.

In Region Three, major investments are enhancing connectivity with Region Two, fostering tourism and farming development in the Essequibo region.

Meanwhile, Region Seven is set to benefit from a new all-weather access road linking Sandhills to Bartica, which is expected to transform the area into a key tourism and mining hub.

These projects align with the government’s vision of positioning Guyana as a regional leader in trade, industry, and sustainable development.
