The Guyana School of Agriculture (GSA), Linden Technical Institute (LTI), and University of Guyana (UG) Trojans secured victories over their opponents on Sunday in the Youth Basketball Guyana’s Tertiary Basketball League.
The opening game saw the Guyana School of Agriculture taking a morale-boosting win over Upper Corentyne Combined with a score of 41-33.
GSA’s Avery White led the charge with 19 points and four rebounds.
He was supported by Dennis Prince, who contributed 11 points and nine rebounds, and Dexter Quintyn, who added 11 points and seven rebounds.
Upper Corentyne’s Fredrick Lashley put up a strong fight with 16 points, while Aldon Angel chipped in with nine points and 11 rebounds.
In the second matchup, Linden Technical Institute edged past Government Technical Institute (GTI) by six points, finishing 66-60.
Kimol Grimmond led LTI with an all-round performance, scoring 16 points, grabbing 10 rebounds, and making four steals.
Neil Marks and Colin Phillips also made significant contributions, scoring 14 and 11 points respectively.
Despite the loss, GTI’s Peter Langevine had an outstanding game with 17 points and 29 rebounds.
Martin Edwards and Delmar Grant also performed well, scoring 18 and 12 points respectively, with Grant also pulling down 18 rebounds.
The final game of the day saw the University of Guyana Trojans defeating New Amsterdam Technical Institute 45-39.
UG’s Jushawn Bailey delivered an incredible performance with 25 points, nine rebounds, and four steals, while Malachi Grimmond supported with 13 points and 10 rebounds.
For New Amsterdam, Jerome Trim and Jared Dainty scored 13 and 11 points respectively, but their efforts were not enough to overcome the UG Trojans.
The tournament continues on Sunday, June 2nd, at the National Gymnasium.
