Guyana Power & Light (GPL) Inc. is set to receive support from the InterEnergy Group, a company based in the Dominican Republic, to bolster its electricity systems.
Through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), GPL and InterEnergy Group will engage in discussions to explore potential areas for collaboration and development within the energy sector.
The partnership will encompass various facets of the energy industry, including electricity generation, transmission, distribution, and the efficient management of systems.
With over 30 years of operational experience, InterEnergy Group aims to become the first utility in the Americas to operate entirely on renewable energy sources.
This strategic alliance will leverage the combined expertise and knowledge of both GPL and InterEnergy Group to revolutionize Guyana’s energy landscape, ensuring the provision of reliable and clean electricity.
Rolando Gonzalez-Bunster, Chairman of Inter-Energy Group, emphasized the plethora of opportunities present in Guyana and discussed potential investment prospects during the partnership.
In August 2023, President Irfaan Ali led a diplomatic mission to the Dominican Republic, where he visited the operations of InterEnergy Group, gaining firsthand insight into their operations.
