-to modernise patient care, hospital systems

The Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation is spearheading a major digital transformation program aimed at improving patient care, strengthening accountability, and boosting overall operational efficiency.
The move is part of a wider effort to modernise healthcare delivery and replace long-standing paper-based processes with more efficient digital systems. Chief Executive Officer Robbie Rambarran says the hospital already has the necessary IT infrastructure in place, with current efforts focused on software development, systems integration, and staff adaptation.
“So the IT infrastructure is there, and there’s a whole framework of implementation. A governance committee, a steering committee, every different segment of the operation, there is an advisory committee, so all that is in place. But what takes the time is actually designing that software that meets our need, and it’s lean, it’s efficient, staff-friendly, and patient-friendly as well,” he said.
According to Rambarran, the hospital’s digital backbone is already established, with implementation now focusing on tailoring software solutions and onboarding staff across departments.
“Other than in terms of the health aspect, there is also a lot of digital transformation that is happening at the hospital. We no longer cut prints and cut pay slip. It is emailed to everyone. Almost 90 per cent of our staff are clocking their time using biometrics,” he added.
Rambarran says these changes are improving accountability, streamlining operations, and positioning the institution for a fully integrated digital healthcare system.
