Law enforcement authorities are addressing recent concerns over road safety by urging truck drivers to take extra precautions when transporting sand and stone along the Soesdyke Linden Highway.

Sergeant Ueon Rose, the Officer in Charge of the Highway Patrol Station, highlighted the improper securing of sand and stone loads as a primary issue on the Soesdyke Linden Highway.

He emphasized that uncovered loads pose risks not only to drivers but also to other road users.

Truck owners are urged to ensure that all loads are adequately covered before departure to prevent spillage onto the roadway.

Sergeant Rose emphasized the importance of properly securing loads using construction plastic to prevent stones from falling out between the tailgate and the bottom of the truck.

Additionally, drivers are reminded to level off sand and stone loads effectively to prevent spillage, which contributes to environmental damage and increases road maintenance costs.

Reflective markers or cones are recommended for vehicles to alert other motorists in the event of a breakdown, reducing the risk of accidents, especially during nighttime travel.

Sergeant Rose emphasized the importance of having these safety measures in place to assist passing vehicles and to provide information to the police.

These preventive measures are essential for the safety of both drivers and all users of the Soesdyke Linden Highway.

By adhering to these simple yet crucial steps, truck drivers can significantly reduce the risk of accidents and ensure the smooth flow of traffic along the highway.
