The government has assured its ongoing support to the family of three St. Cuthbert’s Mission residents who tragically lost their lives in a vehicular accident last weekend.

Minister within the Office of the Prime Minister, with responsibility for Public Affairs, Kwame McCoy, joined grieving relatives and friends at the funeral service to commemorate the lives of Olivia Andrews, 63, her daughter Athina Andrews, 29, and granddaughter Emma Andrews, 6.

Minister McCoy extended condolences on behalf of President Irfaan Ali and his Cabinet, reaffirming the government’s commitment to providing assistance during this difficult time.

He highlighted that the support would continue in the form of direct involvement or accessible communication.

Toshao of St. Cuthbert’s Mission, Alvoro Simon, also conveyed sympathies on behalf of the village council.

He emphasized the council’s dedication to standing by the family and ensuring unwavering support as they navigate this challenging period.

The tragedy has also sparked renewed calls for adherence to road safety practices.

Minister McCoy stressed the importance of safer driving habits within the mission and beyond to help prevent similar incidents in the future.

The St. Cuthbert’s Mission community continues to mourn this devastating loss, with promises from local and national leaders to ensure no family or community faces such tragedy alone.
